National Convention Program Overview

2016 Convention Banner

The 2016 National Convention is comprised of 4 days of programming including more than 50 educational sessions for parents, caregivers and professionals.  Valuable information and resources will be presented to help you understand Williams syndrome, and provide strategies to use in helping your child be the best that he or she can be. The 2016 Convention also includes an optional Wrightslaw workshop on Sunday, July 3 before the convention programming begins.  The 6-hour Wrightslaw workshop is an invaluable resource for those with school-age children.  Pete Wright is the foremost expert in the US on special education law and advocacy.  The workshop will give you a distinct advantage in IEP (Individualized Education Program) and team meetings to plan your child's education.

Separate, daily programs will be provided for individuals with WS of all ages, and their siblings to age 17.

There are many special events throughout the week to enhance your convention experience.  Each of these events require pre-registration, and some will incur additional fees, as noted.

  • Wrightslaw Workshop

    Special pricing for families who also register for the Convention: $35 per person/$50 per couple (1 set of books/materials provided per couple)

  • New Family Reception

    $10 per family
    The convention experience is awesome, but it can also be overwhelming.  If this is your first convention, please plan to join us for a special welcome designed just for you and your family.  Desserts will be served, and entertainment will be provided.  We will also have "seasoned" convention goers on hand to provide you with the tips and tricks that will help make your first convention experience a lot MORE awesome, and alot LESS overwhelming.

  • Exhibit Fair & Reception
    Monday, July 4, 2016
    6:00PM-9:00PM
    Complimentary or Optional light dinner for additional fee.
    Join us for our opening night event to re-connect with old friends, enjoy entertainment  and an exhibit fair featuring disability resource and product specialists, WS Research teams, our WSA Regional chairpersons, and more.  Refreshments will be available.

  • Columbus Zoo & Zoombezi Bay

    $25 per person includes Admittance to the Zoo, Picnic Buffet & Variety Show
    $35 per person includes Admittance to the Zoo, Zoombeiz Bay Waterpark, Picnic Buffet & Variety Show

    All Convention Outing at Columbus Zoo - Sessions will end early on Wednesday afternoon so everyone can enjoy an “all convention” outing to one of the premier zoo’s in the United States.  Join us for a great afternoon and evening at the zoo.  Special pricing includes unlimited time at the zoo plus a special picnic buffet and Variety show* at the Waterfront Pavilion.  The festivities will begin at 3 PM, with the picnic starting at 5:30 and entertainment at 7. 

    You can also take advantage of specially priced tickets which include both the Columbus Zoo and Zoombezi Bay – a waterpark within the zoo grounds which includes water slide and water play areas for ALL ages. 
     
    Families can drive out on their own or take advantage of bus transportation.  Come for all 7 hours, or join us for dinner and the show – whatever works for your family.

    We're bringing in a great DJ to "Rock the House".  Join us for 3 hours of non-stop music and dancing.
