Optional Events & Entertainment at the Convention

Several special events (described below) have been added to this summer's convention.  To register your family for an event enter the requested information on the Registration Summary Form.

Event schedule and details:

Tuesday, July 3rd

  •  "1st timers" Welcome luncheon:  11:00 AM to 12:30 PM    $20 pp.   12 & under: Free
    If this is your first convention, please join us for a casual pizza lunch.  Get to know other first time attendees, and learn a little more about the convention and how to navigate the next 4 days.

  • WSA Chorus (open to all participants in the teens, WSA GANG & Dream Team)
    Teen & adults who love to sing, are invited to join a special Choral Group, which promises to be very exciting, and a great team learning experience. We will practice some really cool songs, which we will then perform at the Anniversary Banquet.   (Please note that the chorus will practice during “on-site” convention programming – you will have to miss a class to participate but you won’t miss any scheduled trips.  All participants must attend every rehearsal)

  • Opening Night Reception & Exhibit Fair:  6:00 PM - 10:00 PM    Included in Reg Fee
    Join us for a grand opening that will be the biggest and best one yet.  Speak to vendors from many resource providers, meet your RCs, re-unite with friends!  Snacks & entertainment provided by the Berkshire Hills Music Academy Performance Troupe & the KANDOO Band.

Wednesday, July 4th                                                         Included in Reg. Fee

  •  Meet filmmaker, Jon Kent and enjoy this 55 minute documentary on WS which gained critical acclaim at the Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival and World Special Olympics Games in Athens, Greece.  Please note that all on-site programming for children & adults with WS & siblings will end at 3:00 PM.  Children are welcome to attend the film showing.

  • Howl at the Moon:  WSA GANG & Dream Team only  6 PM - 8 PM             $25 pp.
    Join us for an interactive, dueling Pianos, Sing-a-long at this local night spot. The “bar” will belong to WSA folks and dinner is included in the price. (WSA "Celebration" performers will leave early to get ready for the 4th of July celebration at the Sheraton).

  • July 4th Celebration Concert & Dance:   8:00 – 11:00 PM   $10 pp  12 & under:  free
    Join us for a party to celebrate Independence Day ending with a live telecast of the
    fireworks on the big screen.  Entertainment for the party will be provided by adults with WS, including the band, "embraceable" from BHMA and several other musicians & vocalists with WS.

Thursday, July 5th

  • WSA Staff Member Wedding Reception:   7:00 PM - 10:00 PM     Included in Reg Fee
    Join us to celebrate the marriage of WSA staff member, and long time convention & camp volunteer, Kate Gardner and her fiancee, Adam Mader.  Kate will be married in a private, pool-side ceremony.  Convention attendees are invited to join them for a dessert reception including her first dance, cake cutting, bouquet toss and dancing for everyone with music provided by a Boston DJ.  (wedding attire optional)

Friday, July 6th

  • 30th Anniversary Celebration:   6:00 PM - 11:00 PM     Adults: $35     12 & under: $20
    The WSA will celebrate its 30th anniversary in grand style with a Boston "flavored" reception including fish & Chips, Clam Chowder & much more, plus entertainment by our teen & adult chorus, and campers, special award presentations, and live music for dancing provided by our amazing Whispering Trails Music Camp Staff.
