The following positions are available for the Therapeutic Camp Experience:


Camp Assistant Director Therapist/Teacher Program Assistant Junior Program Assistant*

Please read each description carefully and apply for the position that is the "best fit" for you.  Those applying for leadership positions may also apply for other positions if interested.

Camp Assistant Director

Must be available by March 1 for program planning and on-site for all 2 program weeks

The Assistant Director will work with the Director to insure that all camp programs and activities are properly developed/organized prior to the start of camp.  The Assistant Director will work with Activity leaders to identify and implement staff requirements and provide necessary expertise/assistance to insure each activity’s success while on site.

Essential Job Functions

  • Work with Director to identify entertainment needs for each camp week
  • Explore, interview and finalize contracts with appropriate entertainment options
  • Maintain open communication with the Camp Director
  • Assist camp director (and WSA Director when needed) to problem solve staff and/or camper issues that arise during the camp week
  • Creation and oversight of staff break schedules and non-specific “downtime” in accordance with program requirements
  • Sever as head counselor to mentor and provide support to counselors as needed
  • Mentor and serve as role model for camp activity leaders
  • Other duties as identified by Camp Director

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the principles, philosophy, and practices of camp administration
  • Demonstrated ability to individually work to accomplish camp goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment and lead when needed
  • Desire and ability to work with individuals with developmental and learning challenges
  • 3+ years direct camp experience

Staff Application - Assistant Director


Therapist/Teacher (PT, OT, SLP, MT, SpEd)

The Therapists/Teachers will work directly with Camp Director to develop programming for their particular area of expertise.  While on site, therapist/teacher will coordinate program assistant requirements with director and maintain direct participation and oversight of all activities associated with area of expertise.  The therapist/teacher will demonstrate proper staff rapport with campers at all times and act as mentors to program assistants. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Development program elements in collaboration with Camp Director and other staff as needed
  • Identify and secure budget approval for program supplies, props etc.
  • Acquire needed supplies, props etc
  • Supervise, coordinate, and promote all camper activities associated with specific expertise
  • Meet all assigned deadlines before and during camp week
  • Other duties as identified by Camp Director    

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise as professional with current certification in field of practice
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team leadership environment
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and lead school age children
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise/mentor program assistants and junior counselors
  • Desire and ability to work with individuals with developmental and learning challenges
  • Previous camp experience is a plus

Staff Application - Therapist/Teacher & Program Assistants


Program Assistant

The program assistant will work under the supervision of the therapist/teachers to ensure that all program requirements are met.  Program assistants will demonstrate proper staff rapport with campers at all times and act as  mentors to junior counselors.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Carry out specific daily activity and program requirements as identified by leader
  • Supervise activities as needed
  • Assistants are responsible for a group of 5-6 children
    • escorting to/from sessions
    • modeling correct classroom behavior and assisting campers with class activities
    • supervising snack and bathroom needs
    • managing behavior if needed   

Qualifications:

  • Age 18 or older
  • Student pursuing degree in PT, OT, SLP, MT, SpEd
  • Ability to organize and lead children
  • Desire to work with individuals with developmental and learning challenges
  • Previous camp experience is a plus

Staff Application - Therapist/Teacher & Program Assistants


Junior Program Assistant

The junior counselor will work under the supervision of the therapist/teachers  and program assistants to ensure that all program requirements are met.  Junior Counselors will demonstrate proper staff rapport with campers at all times.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Carry out specific daily activity and program requirements as identified by leader(s).
  • Support Program Assistant with a group of 5-6 children
    • escorting to/from sessions
    • supervising snack and bathroom needs
    • modeling correct classroom behavior and assisting students with class activities

Qualifications:

  • Age 15-17
  • Sibling of an individual with WS
  • Desire to work with individuals with developmental and learning challenges
  • Previous residential or day camp experience is a plus
