Have you ever heard of Williams syndrome? Chances are, your answer is no. Williams syndrome is a rare genetic condition that is present at birth and can affect anyone. It presents lifelong medical, cognitive & behavioral challenges. But there is a bright side. Medical and learning challenges often occur side by side with striking verbal abilities, highly social personalities, and an affinity for music.
The Williams Syndrome Association (WSA), a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, will host their biannual national convention in Columbus, Ohio from July 3rd to 7th, 2016. The national convention provides a rare opportunity for parents and caregivers to learn the best ways to help their child with Williams syndrome from the foremost experts in the country.
The WSA strives to keep costs as low as possible for families, and the best way for us to do that is with the help of generous people (companies) like you(rs).
In 2016, with the help of people (companies) like you(rs), more than 1300 people were able to join us, and 250 volunteers were in attendance to help with the children’s programs! Additionally, with the support of our sponsors, we were able to provide $50,000 in scholarships to help families attend – Our sponsors helped us decrease the overall cost per family by 25%!
We are looking forward to even greater success at our 2018 convention in Baltimore!
With your help, more families can attend, and we can provide them with the resources they need to improve the future for their sons and daughters with Williams Syndrome.
