Family Support Forum Help

How to navigate

From the Family Support Forum’s main page, you can view questions within a specific category (or topic) by clicking on a topic in the Williams Syndrome Q&A or Family Support DIscussion Group sections. If you aren’t sure which topic to choose, you can also use the forum’s search function in the top right to search across all topics based on a keyword or phrase.

How to ask a question

If you have a question that has not been asked within the relevant topic area, please post it! Navigate to the most appropriate topic area, and use the “Add a question” link in the top left. The forum topic should already be pre-filled and you just need to add a title for your question, and then the question itself in the “Body” field. The question will be posted to the forum and available for other forum users to respond to.

Editing your profile and changing your password

When you are logged in, you can modify your profile here. Click “Edit” on your profile page and you will have the option to add a profile picture, change your password, and more. At the bottom of the page you will find your default notification settings relating to when you would like to receive an email notification of replies on your content or comments.

Updating notification settings

You can update your default notification settings for the posts and comments you make by editing your profile as described above. Additionally, you have the option to subscribe to notifications on entire topics, particular questions, or comments that you make on questions. To follow or unfollow a topic, comment, or reply, look for the text prompts on the relevant topics and questions to subscribe. Once you have subscribed to notifications, your notification subscriptions are all listed and can be adjusted here.

Inclusion statement

The WSA upholds the following positions on inclusion.  We believe that:

  • everyone benefits when individuals with WS are meaningfully included in educational, work, and community settings
  • individuals with WS should receive all necessary supports and services to fully participate in their family lives, communities, and society as a whole
  • high expectations should be the norm, and that individuals with WS and their families should decide how they best learn, work, and enjoy social settings
  • “inclusion” is not one-size-fits-all, and will look different for each family based on each individual’s desires and needs
  • inclusion creates a sense of belonging in society, meaningful relationships, and opportunities to achieve dreams
