Welcome to the Williams Syndrome Association, Greater NYC Metropolitan Region.
Jessica Vecchia of New York City
Griselda Polanco-Guzman of Paterson, New Jersey
I live in Paterson, NJ with my husband Adrian, my young adult sons Anthony and Adrian, and my school-aged daughter Ariana, who has WS. We also have a Yorkie named Gucci. My family is from Dominican Republic (I am bilingual—Spanish and English) and we enjoy going back there on vacation. I love the beach, shopping and spending time with my family. My younger son has Central Auditory Processing Disorder so I have been advocating for more than 15 years. In 2015, Ariana was diagnosed with WS and my passion for advocacy grew stronger. I knew I had to make a difference not only in Ariana’s life, but for every child with a disability. In 2017, I completed the Partners in Policymaking program. I am a committee member for the NJ Democratic Disability Caucus, a volunteer at New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education and a founder of the Special Education Parent Advocacy Council in Paterson, NJ (the third largest school district in NJ). I am a passionate advocate for Inclusion in Education. My goal is to establish a visible presence in the community by providing information, education, services and support to the underserved populations.
